Love all that, but we don’t live in NYC, where one can get away with just any kind of fashion. So, you beloved Helene M. fashionistas, its your job to transform these styles to the streets of…. New England! This is the BEST time of year! Ah, wedding season!  Pretty brides, nuptials, blessings and we cannot forget the champagne and dancing (preferably all night)!  This calls for a fabulous dress.  As a bride you have showers, a rehearsal dinner and soirees in between.  As a guest you want a knockout dress that takes you into the wee hours.  For a fun, flirty look, a dress with bright colors or one with bold lines (think one-shoulder styles) will be the right thing.  Demure and preppy can translate into cotton strapless in a saturated color with a sandal.  Trade in the LBD for one in deep cobalt for a similar effect, just with a twist. Want some movement, but truly need structure? Go for a fitted little number that has some texture added to it in a surprising way, like fluttery ruffles. However you opt to adorn yourself for the wedding festivities, have fun with it. Cheers to the happy couple, and to looking fabulous at their union!

Ok, so since we are all fabulous women with loads of friends, it is inevitable that we will be invited to at least ONE wedding this summer… Or Five….. What’s a girl to do? There are so many options, & time of day, setting, and level of formality are all factors. Check out our suggestions.

Morning/Early afternoon/Outdoor wedding- Go for something, light, breezy, floral. A sundress with a matching cardigan is ideal. A lightweight linen pashmina wrap is also a great topper. Ideas below:

Evening wedding- any of the following options, or variations of, would be perfection. Pearls are a classic touch to ANY dress, as shown here. A bright pashmina lightens up a simple black dress.

Options for both day or night: Depending on how you accessorize, these could be worn at any hour. Wearing pants in a luxurious fabric such as satin or silk is perfectly acceptable, as long as you pair them with a fancy top as shown below.

When it comes to handbags at weddings, small and chic is the way to go, just big enough to carry a camera, compact, and your keys. The straw bag is fab for day, and the quilted metallic silver is a great option for day or night.

So once you have this covered, breath easy, enjoy the champagne, and have a blast… Cheers!

The Helene m. gals are fresh from Fall 2009 Fashion Coterie, and we are THRILLED about what we saw. Yes, we know that everyone is so excited for spring, but when you see the items that we selected for our stores, you will want to pre-order away…

What stood out this year were the statement coats.

Every designer was doing a sleek wool knee length jacket in bright colors, or neutrals with amazing detailing, like the belted ruffle from DVF, or the fitted exposed zipper in grey from Shoshanna. Tibi did an amazing fuchsia pink ruffle front jacket, that we are positive will fly out of our stores faster than we can display it on a mannequin.

Alice and Olivia have an unbeleivable red military inspired swing coat that is to DIE for…

As far as ready to wear goes, winter florals, bright peacock colors, and ladylike shapes prevailed. Check out these pics, and try not to get too excited for fall….remember spring is STILL on its way!!!!
