Sunday Polo Fashion

By Shannon Cragen

On Sundays during the summer and early fall, the good people of Hamilton, MA attend polo matches. Myopia Polo is the oldest active polo club in the country, holding weekly world class matches. There is no better place to see some amazing athletes, human and equine alike, not to mention scoping the easy going, preppy chic fashion. Whats more, the attendees are encouraged to tailgate before and during the game. You can’t throw a stone without hitting a glass of chilled white wine or champagne, and complete with pet canines, it becomes a family affair, a rarity in any sporting event these days…

This past Sunday, I attended the event with my fiance and some of our dearest friends. While walking the field perimeter, we were fortunate enough to encounter Cissie Snow, a polo legend and the only woman playing in Sunday’s match. I am a huge fan of her sporty style and fearless attitude!

Checking out who is wearing what at the matches is always a highlight, and this past weekend was no exception. Autumns slight chill brought with it beautiful layers, and a bit of leather, in jackets and knee high boots. Its so classic and perfectly New England!

We love the ensemble of the lovely lady above, with her simple linen wide leg khakis, crisp white tee, and a pop of color in a open sweater cardigan… Nicely done! Doesnt she look effortlessly chic? It just goes to show that casual need’nt be sloppy… Love it!

Liana’s Idyllic Maine Life….

We at Helene M. all love listening to Liana, (our Portland location manager) talk about her adorable new house, the garden that her and her husband planted, and the chickens that they own! We begged her to take photos and write a little blog about it, and she is so sweet to share! (also, we think that she is the cutest little thing EVER, just look at these photos!!!)… Check out her thoughts below…

When I’m not at the store, I’m mostly in my yard keeping busy in the garden and taking care of my chickens. Gardening is a happy effort; there’s lots of weeding to do, for sure, but it makes you giddy to see the literal fruits of your labor! This year we planted eggplant, kale, tomatoes(and then some), 2 types of squash, broccoli, onions, lettuce, and beans. Having a garden tunes you into nature in the smallest of ways, like planting, or pruning a plant. My chickens are always clucking around; sometimes I forget to close the garden gate and after intently working in there I look up to find all six hens rooting around the rows of delicious treats! They love tomatoes. Soon they’ll start laying eggs and all that garden goodness(and compost) they’ve been eating will make their eggs that much better! We share our veggies with family and friends, and that has been a great part of it too.

When you’re not working, how do you spend your spare time? Tell us!
