I am going away at the end of next month. After looking at last year’s vacation clothes it is obvious I need an update. If you could suggest some key pieces for vacation and the coming seasons, what would they be? Kathy R., Kennebunkport, ME
A: This is the situation many of us find ourselves in. A great pair of shorts in a neutral color would be ideal. We love a fitted Bermuda (we’ll have some in-store soon from Sanctuary, Vince, Alice + Olivia to name a few). This silhouette allows for you to create casual and dressier outfits; tops and shoes will change up the look here. A great above-the-knee skirt, and a light-weight cardi will give you options when you add in a couple of printed tops. Opt for a jersey dress, as you will love the ease of just throwing it on. Beyond that, pick up fresh colorful tees and a fabulous new bathing suit! This should round out your vacay look and give you a great starting point for spring. Happy travels!

The Hunter Wellie - They’re our current closet obsession, and one with considerable cache. The Royal Family has been famously sporting them for decades and making them what some call a British institution. Presently, American gals have been adopting these boots into their wardrobe, with fabulous results. Sunshine and Snowmelt…

This image may seem incongruous- a cheerful, breezy printed skirt with a delicate silk, crochet top (both by Milly) against a backdrop of snow-covered ground…but that snow is melting!  It was in the 50’s today!  It makes you giddy. Once outside vanishing icicles had dripped on the Milly-clad mannequin, but she was unflappable; when the sun is shining and you look that fabulous, what’s a little melting snow?

FYI: Yesterday in Portland we received a shipment from Michael Stars, one of our Helene m. true blues, and if short sleeved v-necks and scoop-necks in a myriad of juicy colors isn’t enough to satiate us, we also got the elbow sleeve in stripes and solids!  We always seem to be ready for a new season even if all we pick up are some new Michael Stars tees.  Got to love them!
