What makes a great party outfit?
At some point this season we will all need to pull together an outfit for that holiday party, be it at the office, our neighbors’, or about town. We’re excited to go, they’ll be good cheer and glad tidings, cocktails and mistletoe. We must look fabulous. What’s a girl to wear? First, let’s get a grip, and make this fun. What we can all agree on is that a great party outfit is one in which we feel amazing. It should be comfortable, yet flattering and, dare we say, festive? Our point is, there are many takes on a great party outfit and more importantly, it does not have to be another holiday stressor. A party is where you should find stress relief. Lets review your options…maybe you could wear your LBD (and if you dont have one….shame, shame), & just add some flavor, like a gorgeous opera length strand of Portia pearls. We’re loving all of our accessories this season! Our sparkly drop earrings are a standout with the perfect amount of glitz and glamour. Snap up a bright pink cashmere wrap from White & Warren…instant Audrey. If you are thinking black pants and need a top, something in silk adds texture and interest to a great fitting basic bottom.
Diane von Furstenburg’s silk top in a purple jewel tone paired with a cropped velvet jacket would be an elegant layered look. The party skirt never fails either; if it is printed then some opaque tights and a Michael Stars elbow sleeve turtleneck complete the look with ease. A cocktail dress can be comfortable, just zip it up, and voila….party perfection.
Nicole Miller makes an amazingly comfortable one that looks so chic on. Finally, if it does come down to your favorite dressy denim, make sure you opt for a fantastic top– printed, ruffled, or otherwise striking—and possibly the shoe in a striking color or texture. These unexpected elements will ensure you are feeling and looking fabulous. You’re all set now, go be festive and get your groove on!
